Gamharia (Seraikela-Kharsawan): Around 160 workers employed by RK Enterprises, a vendor company engaged at the Tata Steel plant in Gamharia, Seraikela-Kharsawan district, went on strike on Wednesday, demanding payment of their pending wages and transparency in wage accounting.
The protesting workers alleged that for a long period, they have not been receiving their full wages. They claimed that frequent changes in vendor agencies have led to unclear and incomplete records of previous payments, leaving many workers uncertain about their dues. This situation, they said, has caused severe financial strain and personal hardship.
The workers further alleged that some of their colleagues were recently removed from work without prior notice, putting their livelihoods at risk. They expressed concern over the lack of communication and clarity regarding employment continuity and wage settlements.
Clarifying their stand, the workers said they are not seeking any confrontation and only want full payment of their earned wages with proper documentation. They have demanded immediate discussions involving RK Enterprises and the plant management to resolve the issue at the earliest.
The workers warned that if their demands are not addressed promptly, they would be forced to intensify their protest in the coming days.
The ongoing strike is likely to impact operations at the Straight Bar Mill unit of the plant. Meanwhile, the plant administration and vendor management are closely monitoring the situation and assessing its operational implications.
