Jamshedpur, May 12: The students of Jharkhand Chhatra Morcha (JCM), the students’ wing of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), on Thursday brainstormed on ban of liquor in a meeting-cum-panel discussion after Bihar’s decision to ban liquor.
Kunal Sarangi, JMM leader and MLA from Baharagora, spoke on the pros and cons of liquor and its side effects on society. The program was organized at the Jamshedpur Workers’ College in Mango.
Apart from Kunal Sarangi, college principal D.P. Shukla was also present amidst the discussion. Shukla also discussed the issue and students role in reforming the society.
“The topic is quite burning today. Whether this should also be implemented in Jharkhand would need time and much brainstorming before the government follows it.
As the chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar have been requesting Jharkhand and other neighboring states to adopt the same, I think we should analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the consequences,” said Sarangi, who said that he will raise the point in the Cabinet during the monsoon session.
Students’ activists of JCM under which about 30 students attended the meeting said that they had organized the program to promote awareness among students and also to plan their next campaign against liquor consumption.
