Jamshedpur Women’s University students excel at 38th AIU East Zone Youth Festival

Jamshedpur, Jan 11: Students of Jamshedpur Women’s University showcased outstanding performances across various competitions at the 38th AIU (All India University) East Zone Youth Festival held at Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata, from January 8 to January 11, 2025. Under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Anjila Gupta, a team of 25 enthusiastic students, accompanied by faculty members, represented the university with energy and confidence.

The team was led by Dr. Kishwar Ara, Dean of Student Welfare, and supported by Dr. Sanatan Deep and Sudha Deep, Chairperson of the Sports and Culture Department. Faculty members Raj Rishi and Preeti also joined to boost the students’ morale. The university participated in 11 competitions, including group song, folk dance, group dance, debate, skit, mime, solo singing, and kathak.

Highlights included a Kathak performance by Bingsati Dutta (PG English Department), directed by Sudha Deep, with tabla accompaniment by Rakesh Mishra. A skit featuring Riya, Shruti, Chaitali, Lakhi, Somi, and Divya captivated the audience, while Divya competed in mimicry and Somi excelled in the elocution contest.

The participating students were Anmol Pari Mishra, Arpita Das, Varsha Pati, Simran Gupta, Lucky Kumari, Soumi Mukherjee, Priyanshi Gop, Divya Kumari, and many others. They departed for Kolkata on January 7 with best wishes from Vice-Chancellor Dr. Anjila Gupta, who expressed confidence in their performances and extended her blessings. The festival marked a proud moment for the university in promoting talent and cultural excellence.
