JWU Names Karateka Karnisha Best Sportsperson of The Year

Jamshedpur: International karate gold medallist Karnisha Das has been awarded as the “Best Sportsperson of the Year 2025” by Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU). The university conferred this honour during its 3rd Annual Sports Day celebration.

SSP Piyush Pandey Presents Top Honor

Chief Guest and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey presented Karnisha with a commemorative memento and a tracksuit. He praised her dedication and recognized her significant contributions to the university’s athletic legacy.

Karnisha currently trains under the expert guidance of Shihan Nageshwar Rao. Her consistent performance on the mat has made her a prominent figure in Jharkhand’s sports circuit.

A Track Record of International Success

Karnisha continues to bring pride to Jharkhand through her performances in several high-profile championships. Her notable achievements include:

  • A silver medal in the Senior Girls Team Kata at the South Asian Open International Karate Championship in Kathmandu.
  • A bronze medal in Kumite at the same international event held at Dashrath Indoor Stadium.

University Leadership Celebrates Athletic Excellence

The program opened with a formal welcome for the distinguished guests. Several key university officials attended the ceremony to support the student-athletes, including:
