Jamshedpur Women’s University Marks Yoga Day with Energy, Elegance

Jamshedpur, June 21: Jamshedpur Women’s University celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with great zeal and enthusiasm at the indoor stadium of its Bistupur campus. The event was held under the guidance of  Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta, with active participation from students, faculty, and administrative staff.

The program began with a traditional welcome by second-semester M.A. Yoga students, who greeted guests and participants. The lamp-lighting ceremony was conducted in the presence of Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Kishwar Ara, Registrar Rajendra Jaiswal, Dean (Discipline) Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sahu, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rama Subramanyam, Vocational Course Coordinator Dr. Annapurna Jha, Head of Sports and Culture Dr. Sanatan Deep, NSS Coordinator Dr. Gloria Purti, and esteemed yoga guru Subhashish Bhaduri. All dignitaries were honored with saplings as a symbol of growth and harmony.

In her welcome address, Dr. Annapurna Jha emphasized the significance of yoga in maintaining physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, noting that yoga is increasingly attracting the interest of students. Yoga expert Subhashish Bhaduri conducted the guided yoga session and led participants through a structured yoga protocol.

The event also featured a yoga dance performance by fourth-semester M.A. Yoga students, and winners of various yoga competitions were awarded prizes for their achievements. The stage was anchored by Yoga Department students Ravi Shankar Newar and Shaswati Maiti, while the vote of thanks was delivered by NSS Coordinator Dr. Gloria Purti.

Students from the Yoga department, NCC, NSS, Journalism department, and university hostels played a vital role in making the event a resounding success, reflecting the university’s dedication to holistic education and wellness.
