Jamshedpur, June 21: Loyola School marked calendars on International Yoga Day with a structured programme held on campus. The event was attended by chief guest Mrs. Jayashree Chakraborty, along with Fr. K.M. Joseph (Rector), Fr. Vinod Fernandes (Principal), Ms. Jayanthi Sheshadri (Vice-Principal), staff, and students.

The programme began with an address highlighting the significance of yoga as a practice that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness. The role of yoga in promoting physical health, mental clarity, and emotional balance was briefly outlined.

Mrs. Jayashree Chakraborty was introduced as a long time yoga practitioner who began her journey at the age of 65 at the Sonari Community Centre under Yoga Guru Subhasish Bhaduri. She has received multiple recognitions, including a Silver Medal at the 30th National Yoga Championship (Nashik, 2017), a Gold Medal at the 31st National Yogasana Championship (Vijayawada, 2018), and third place at the 35th National Traditional Yogasana Championship (Kolkata, 2025) in the 65+ women’s category. She has also been conferred the title of ‘Yoga Queen’ by Urban Services, Tata Steel.

She was presented with a sapling and a token of appreciation by the school leadership.
Mrs. Chakraborty then conducted a yoga session for the students, demonstrating basic asanas and breathing techniques. The exercises focused on flexibility, concentration, and body awareness, and were actively followed by the students.
The event concluded with a shared emphasis on the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routine.
The event concluded by helping students understand Yoga as a tool for holistic growth ,mindfulness , discipline and overall wellbeing .
