Jamshedpur Women’s University Celebrates Independence Day with Achievements and Progress
Jamshedpur, August 16: Jamshedpur Women’s University celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor at both its Bistupur and Sidhgora campuses. The National Flag was hoisted by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta, who extended greetings on the occasion and paid tribute to the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters. She highlighted that India’s independence was the result of long struggles and numerous movements, beginning with tribal uprisings in Jharkhand and other regions, followed by the Revolt of 1857 and later national movements.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Gupta shared the progress and achievements of the university. She emphasized that the institution has been successfully conducting all sessions and examinations on schedule. She credited the dedicated team of faculty and staff for ensuring smooth implementation of New Education Policy (NEP) courses in a planned manner. The university has also conducted two convocations and recently held the second GE examination, marking another milestone.
Prof. Gupta noted that NCC and NSS units remain active, organizing various activities throughout the year. She proudly mentioned NCC cadet Hemanti Patar’s participation in the Youth Exchange Program in Russia. Students have also excelled in sports: Karnika Das of the English Department secured first place in the International Karate Championship 2025 in Chennai, while Shivangi Kumari of B.P.Ed. emerged winner in the National Women’s Football Championship in Chhattisgarh.
Highlighting placement achievements, she said students are gaining opportunities in reputed firms, with Isha Singh, Ayushi Kumari, Preeti Kumari, and Pratima Gope selected in companies like Wipro and TCS. Academic success has also been noteworthy, with 10 students qualifying for the NET examination this year, four clearing PhD entrance tests, and English Department student Mampi Adhikari securing the 102nd rank in the JPSC Administrative Services Examination.
Prof. Gupta concluded by affirming that continuous academic, cultural, and extracurricular activities across the faculties of Science, Arts, Commerce, Education, and Professional Studies are driving the university forward. She expressed confidence that Jamshedpur Women’s University will keep progressing with commitment to excellence in education and holistic student development.
