CP Radhakrishnan honours 1,014 girls at first JWU convocation ceremony

Jamshedpur, March 2: Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) organized its inaugural convocation ceremony on Saturday at the Sidhgora campus, with Governor CP Radhakrishnan gracing the occasion as the chief guest. During the ceremony, Governor Radhakrishnan awarded degrees to 1,014 girl students of the university, while also honoring 28 outstanding students with gold medals for their excellent performance in various subjects.

Addressing the audience, Governor Radhakrishnan emphasized the significance of the day, recognizing it as a culmination of years of hard work and dedication by the university’s girl students. He commended the university’s journey from its establishment as an inter-college to its current status as a recognized center of excellence with an ‘A’ grade accreditation from NAAC.

The Governor stressed the importance of providing quality education to girls and empowering them with necessary skills and knowledge for success in today’s world. He encouraged participation in sports and cultural activities for personal growth and cultural understanding.

The unique dress code for the convocation showcased the university’s distinct cultural touch, as girl students donned white salwar kurtas with red dupattas or opted for white or cream-colored sarees with red borders.

The Governor reiterated a profound commitment to female empowerment within the realm of education. Emphasizing the institution’s primary focus on uplifting female students, he spoke passionately about the pivotal role education plays in fostering skills and knowledge essential for success in today’s dynamic world.

“We offer various courses that help our students gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s world. I also encourage them to participate in sports and cultural activities to grow as individuals and understand their cultural roots,” said the governor, underscoring the holistic approach to education.

Governor Radhakrishnan also inaugurated the Savitribai Phule Central Library and Swarnarekha Auditorium of the University during the ceremony. These state-of-the-art facilities are poised to enhance the learning environment and cultural experiences for students.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Anjila Gupta, university officials, teaching and non-teaching staff, along with distinguished guests, were present at the event.
