Jamshedpur Women’s College celebrates Entrepreneurship Day

Jamshedpur , March 29: Jamshedpur Women’s College celebrated Entrepreneurship Day at its campus today. To develop entrepreneurship skills among the students in college, students from the commerce and business management department were given a total loan amount of Rs 20,000 to try their business idea through a fair. There were10 kiosks to offer food, nail art, mehendi and games at the fair.

Suresh Sonthalia, president, Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) was the chief guest on the occasion who motivated the girls on choosing entrepreneurship through their innovative ideas.

He defined entrepreneurship as a combination of many qualities. He said that all entrepreneurs are business persons, but not all business persons are entrepreneurs. “An entrepreneur is a person who develops a new idea and takes the risk of setting up an enterprise to produce a product or service which satisfies customer needs,” he noted.

Another speaker spoke on entrepreneurship and what qualities an ideal entrepreneur should have: daring, innovation and focusing on the grass root levels.

He talked about how every problem had a solution and his belief that the ability to find a way out of tight spots is something an entrepreneur should possess. He also talked about frameworks and challenges that the entrepreneur will face and how to tackle it. This was followed by a fruitful and interactive session.

The guest along with the faculty members visited the kiosks and interacted with students about their business, investment and expectation of profit.

“Our initiatives have always had an enthusiastic response from the batch. Students believe in themselves. They are interested in seeing how their managerial skills can be applied in the social context in these sectors,” noted an official.
