Jamshedpur women dies after childbirth at MGM Hospital, husband alleges negligence

The incident follows after a doctor was assaulted over death of a child at the govt heal hub last week

Jamshedpur, September 24:  Barely a week after a junior doctor was assaulted by irate family members for the death of a child at the MGM Hospital, a woman breathed her last at Kolhan’s largest government heal hub today.

Family members created a ruckus after the death of the woman .

Sources said that the deceased, 23-year-old Malti Devi, wife of Lalan Sharma, A resident of Sakchi Nehru Colony, was admitted to MGM Hospital on Monday  last with labour pain. She gave birth to a child.

However, Malti died suddenly on Sunday. Her husband  Lalan Sharma said that they  got married in May 2022. On Monday last, his wife gave birth to a child.

According to him, on  Sunday morning a nurse in the hospital gave Malti an injection, after which she did not get up from the bed.  Lalan alleged that the death occurred due to the negligence of the doctors.

It may be recalled that a doctor at MGM Hospital was assaulted  following the death of a 4-year-old girl on Monday night last.

The incident had sparked outrage within the medical community and led to a protest by doctors at the hospital.

The assault victim Dr. Kamlesh, was attacked after the infant patient, Anu Pradhan, breathed her last during the course of treatment..

The  family of the deceased accused Dr. Kamlesh of medical negligence.

The medical community at the hospital rallied in protest after the assault. On Tuesday, doctors, nurses, and medical staff went on a strike, which lasted for three days.

The strike was withdrawn after police arrested four persons who were allegedly involved  in assaulting the said doctor.
