Jamshedpur, Sept 24: In a remarkable showcase of determination and commitment, Ansh Prakash, a 14-year-old cyclist from Jamshedpur etched his name into the annals of extraordinary achievements by successfully completing cycling expedition from Manali to Leh.
Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) organised its first ever cycling expedition from Manali to Leh from September 4 to 14.
Covering a total distance of approximately 500 kilometers, this challenging journey was undertaken with a noble cause in mind, encapsulated by the theme “Pedal for a Purpose.”
This epic expedition saw Ansh Prakash traverse through some of the world’s most treacherous and breathtaking terrain. Among the five formidable passes that he crossed, including Tanglang La (17,582 ft), Lanchung La (16,616 ft), Baralacha La (15,900 ft), Nakee La (15,547 ft), and Rohtang La (13,050 ft), Ansh’s determination never wavered. Each pass posed its own set of challenges, but his indomitable spirit propelled him forward.
What set Ansh Prakash apart was his awe-inspiring feat on the 7th day of the expedition, crossing not one but two passes, Nakke La and Lachung La, he covered an astonishing distance of 80-km from Sarchu to Pang. This feat is a testament to his exceptional endurance and unyielding resolve.
Ansh Prakash, a student in class 9 at D.B.M.S English School, Jamshedpur, resides in Jubilee Officers Flat, Northern Town. Originally hailing from Chhapra, Bihar, Ansh is part of a family of academic achievers, with two elder sisters, one pursuing a Masters degree at Trinity College, Ireland, and another currently in Class 10 at Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamshedpur. His mother, Bimla, is a homemaker, and his father, U.P. Singh, serves as an Assistant Manager at Tata Steel.
Under the theme “Pedal for a Purpose”, TSAF’s cycling expedition aligned with two Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 07-Affordable and Clean Energy and Goal 13-Climate Action. With each pedal, the expedition sent a resounding message of dual impact—combating climate change and championing renewable energy. Participants embodied the spirit of sustainability, demonstrating that eco-friendly travel choices can make a significant difference in addressing pressing global issues.
