Jamshedpur, April 6: Police here recovered the body of a 30 year-old woman from Surda railway level crossing under Mosabani police station area on Wednesday.
The body bore injury marks around the neck. It was found lying in the bushes. Cops also found a red purse from the scene. A Rs 10 note was found inside.
Investigators suspect the woman was raped and murdered. They said the victim is yet to be identified. The body has been sent to MGM Medical College for postmortem examination.
According to police, the railway level crossing employee informed police about the body. Local residents were called at the scene to identify the deceased, but of no avail, cops said.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of strangulation death in this case.
