Jamshedpur: In a tragic incident on Friday night, Jyoti Agarwal, a resident of Sonari, was shot dead near Kanderbeda under the Chandil police station on NH 33, adjacent to Jamshedpur. Jyoti, who was accompanied by her husband Ravi Agarwal, had stopped at a hotel on NH 33 for dinner and was returning home via Pardih, Kanderbeda when the horrifying incident unfolded.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of armed criminals intercepted the couple’s vehicle. Despite resistance from Ravi Agarwal, one of the assailants fired shots, with a bullet striking Jyoti Agarwal fatally. Despite immediate medical attention at TMH, Jyoti succumbed to her injuries.
Ravi Agarwal recounted that his shop, located on Slag Road in Sitaramdera, had been targeted for ransom just a month prior, prompting him to file a complaint with the Sitaramdera police station.
Police are investigating the incident and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. The community is shaken by the senseless violence, and authorities are intensifying efforts to ensure the safety of residents along NH 33 and surrounding areas.
