Jamshedpur, Jan 7: An unidentified woman guised as customer stole away Rs 1.25 lakh in cash from a shop near Jhanda Chowk under Sakchi police station area on Friday.
The theft was reportedly captured by a CCTV camera installed at the shop. The shop owner Vijay Kumar said the woman had come to his shop to buy utensils. Despite seeing many samples, the woman kept saying that she was not satisfied and made excuses to see more utensils. While the Kumar was busy showing more utensils, the woman, who wore a mask and a red shawl, reached the cash counter and took out the cash. The woman covered the cash counter with her shawl to conceal her act. She soon went out of the shop saying she did not like the wares.
The shop owner later found out that cash had been stolen from the counter. He saw the CCTV footage and his suspicion got confirmed. He soon informed Sakchi police and lodged a complaint against the unknown woman.
Police said they were scanning CCTV footage to get a clue about the woman.
