Jamshedpur woman dies, husband and son injured in road mishap

Jamshedpur, May 9: A woman died while her husband and son were injured in a road accident on the National Highway 18 near Ghatsila on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Satyavati Sardar (38), wife of Gurucharan Sardar, police said.

Sources said the mishap occurred when the three persons were coming to Sundernagar from Chakulia on a motorcycle. The couple accompanied their son for the purpose of getting his admission done in a local school. As the three reached a petrol pump near Kondernala under Ghasila police station area, a pick-up van knocked down their bike at high speed. Satyavati was thrown apart on the road. She sustained critical head injuries and succumbed at the scene. Her husband and six year-old son Rishabh also fell on the road. Gurucharan was seriously injured while Rishabh fortunately sustained only minor injuries, sources said.

The van driver fled the scene after the incident. Local residents rushed to the scene after on seeing Rishabh crying on the road and his parents lying on the road. They informed police about the incident. Cops sent the injured father-son to a nearby nursing home and sent Satyavati’s body to Ghatsila Sub Divisional Hospital for postmortem examination.
