Jamshedpur: Warm clothes distributed to children in Anganwadi Centres

Jamshedpur: In a heartwarming initiative to combat the biting cold, the District Administration has begun distributing warm clothes to children enrolled in Anganwadi centres across the district. This move comes under the directives of the State Government to ensure that 100% of enrolled children receive warm clothing during the winter season.

Acting on the instructions of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal, the distribution drive aims to provide two sets of warm clothes to all children aged 3-6 years enrolled in Anganwadi centres. The initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of children during the cold weather.

 Mittal has directed the Social Welfare Officer to oversee the smooth execution of the drive by maintaining close monitoring through the Child Development Project Offices. Furthermore, children attending the Anganwadi centres have been instructed to wear the distributed warm clothes throughout the cold season to stay protected.

This large-scale distribution effort targets a total of 44,192 children across the district, divided into the following age groups: 3-4 years: 16,899 children, 4-5 years: 16,569 children, 5-6 years: 10,724 children

The comprehensive nature of the initiative ensures that no child is left out, reflecting the administration’s resolve to address the specific needs of vulnerable groups during winter.

To ensure the timely and efficient distribution of the warm clothes, the District Magistrate has emphasized continuous monitoring and coordination between the Social Welfare Office and Anganwadi centres. This collaborative effort seeks to minimize delays and ensure that the clothes reach the intended beneficiaries without hindrance.

The initiative has been widely appreciated by parents and local communities, who see it as a timely intervention to safeguard the health of children during harsh winters. The effort also highlights the importance of Anganwadi centres as vital hubs for child welfare and community support.
