Jamshedpur, Aug 4: A speeding truck ran over a motorcyclist to death on the National Highway 33 near Jhabri under Chowka police station area on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Biren Pramanik. Sources said the mishap occurred when Pramanik was returning from a local farm. Just then the truck ran him down, killing him at the scene.
Local villagers gathered at the scene and blocked the highway in protest. They demanded arrest of the errant driver and compensation for the next of kin of the deceased. Local police reached the scene and tried to assuage the agitation. They assured to help the next of kin of the deceased get compensation as per government rules.
