Jamshedpur: Vikram Sharma acquitted in Sreeleathers Ashish Dey murder case

Jamshedpur, June 10: The court of Additional District Judge (IV) RK Sinha acquitted Vikram Sharma, accused as prime conspirator in the sensational Ashish Dey murder case, due to insufficiency of evidence here on Thursday.

The court had reserved its verdict in the case on 3rd June last. Sharma had appeared in the court for his statement on 9th May last.

Ashish Dey, proprietor of popular footwear brand Sreeleathers, was shot dead on 2nd November 2007 in Aam Bagan, Sakchi, allegedly for having failed to pay extortion money to local gangsters.    

The prosecution could not produce adequate evidence against Sharma in the last 15 years, which resulted in Sharma’s acquittal.

Akhilesh Singh, an associate of Vikram Sharma, is also an accused in this case. He is currently lodged in Dumka Central Jail and his produced in the court through video conferencing.
