Jamshedpur, July 17: Residents of Vijaya Garden in Baridih on Sunday protested against the unnecessary enhancement of maintenance charges by the builder. A letter was issued last month by the Housing Development and Maintenance committee of Vijaya Homes mentioning therein the increase in maintenance charges three times more than the prevailing charges. After receiving the letter, the residents of Vijaya Garden in Baridih wanted to know from the builder the reason for the sudden hike in maintenance charges without caring to hold discussions with the residents over and above the fact that the society was registered in the name of Vijaya Garden Owners’ Association since 2007. The residents claimed that there had been no correspondence with the Vijaya Garden Society President, Dr Vibhuti Bhushan, Secretary, Alok Kumar and Executive member Pramod Mishra nor any executive committee member.
Residents of Vijaya Garden organized a protest and sit-in demonstration in the Community Hall – 1 at 11 am. The protesters demanded to know the ground on which the maintenance charges were increased. A letter mentioning the anomaly and reasons for the enhancement of maintenance charges three-fold signed by the society members had been tendered to the builder. The residents of Vijaya Garden stated that since the current maintenance was poor in spite of several complaints in the past, they accused the builder of not initiating any move to improve the prevailing conditions and the sudden increase in maintenance charges was illogical and unexpected.
The Vijaya Garden residents demanded that a written declaration of the nature of facilities to be provided in view of the hiked charges be sent to the society. They stated that the enhanced charges would not be paid until a written reply was provided by the builder. The builder was directed to Interact with the office bearers of the society without delay.
Dr Vibhuti Bhushan, Alok Kumar, Pramod Mishra, Rajesh Singh, Dr Akhilesh Kumar, Ravi Singh, Jainandan, Upendra Kumar, Chandrashekhar Tiwari, Sumit Banerjee, GC Das, SK Mandal, Ashish Upadhyay and other residents participated in the sit-in demonstration organized by the residents of Vijaya Garden in Baridih.
