Jamshedpur, Dec 6: Several vendors put up a demonstration before the district transport office on Tuesday to protest against alleged procedural difficulties in getting NOC for transfer of ownership of vehicles through sale. They alleged that the local transport department officials were not issuing NOC to people willing to sell off their vehicles. As a result of the unwillingness of officials, sale of old vehicles is being hampered, they said, adding that their earnings had suffered consequently.

Leading the protestors, Pramod Lal, Member, Regional Transport Authority, Kolhan division, said he had written to the District Transport Officer (DTO) of East Singhbhum Dinesh Ranjan and apprised of the practical difficulties being faced by vendors dealing in sale of old vehicles. He said many people who plan to sell off their vehicles due to financial problems were unable to do so as NOCs were not being issued by the department. He said many sick people, pregnant women and senior citizens were suffering due to the given situation as the department officials stressed on the physical presence of vehicle sellers at the transport office.
