Jamshedpur, Jan 20: On National Street Vendors Day, a delegation from the National Association for Street Vendors of India, led by BJP leader Vimal Baitha, met with the appointed official to discuss their demands. During the meeting, the delegation presented a memorandum of their demands to the appointed official. Vimal Baitha highlighted the exploitation faced by vendors in the city, stating that they were being subjected to harassment.

He mentioned that the unemployment crisis in Jharkhand had led many unemployed youth to make a livelihood by setting up stalls, but they were being exploited. On the occasion, Ratna Das informed that with the assistance of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, 4,600 Town Vending Committees were established across the country. However, these committees, supposed to meet every three months, had not been convening such meetings for several months. Additionally, street vendors were not receiving any allowances for television broadcasts.

The delegation urged the appointed official to conduct elections for the Town Vending Committee and ensure that it works in favor of the vendors by addressing their rights and concerns within the city.
