Jamshedpur: Uproar over death of Jio contract worker, agreement on compensation of Rs 8 lakh

Jamshedpur, September 2: Jio employee Gulshan Boypai (contract worker), who was injured while working on NH 33 at Mango, died during treatment at TMH. On Saturday, the people of the colony including the deceased’s mother Sanju Boypai, BJP leader Vikas Singh surrounded the office of Jio Fiber located on Mango Dimna Road, demanding compensation. The family demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 10,000 every month for the mother’s living.

However, the company was adamant on paying only Rs 4 lakh compensation. On receiving information BJP state spokesperson Kunal Sarangi also reached the spot and talked to the company officials. In the end, the company agreed to pay a compensation of Rs 8 lakh, the entire hospital expenses including the cost of cremation of the dead body, after which the matter was calmed down.

It is known that Gulshan started working in the company on August 1 itself. He was working by climbing a pole near Big Bazaar on NH 33 when he got electrocuted and died.
