Jamshedpur, April 19: Jamshedpur U13s came from behind to pick up a 1-1 draw against FC Madras today at the JSW Youth Cup at the JSW Vidyanagar Football Ground in Bellary Karnataka.
The U13 team was keen to get back to winning ways in this game after a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Bengaluru FC, but went a goal down in the 16th minute when Lalremruatfela managed to sneak his shot past Sudais Islam in the Jamshedpur goal.
Madras were desperate for points of their own at the JSW Youth Cup, and kept pressing for a second goal, but the match remained 1-0 in favour of the young South Indian outfit at the halftime break.
JFC U13 head coach Arshad Hussain felt the need to freshen things up in his side, and moments after the restart, made a substitution that made a world of difference.
Naman Kumar came on for Jayram Besra in the attacking third, and almost instantly, the teenager struck gold.
Naman found the back of the net in the 59th minute to bring his side level and allowed Jamshedpur an opportunity to push for all three points.
The boys of steel stayed disciplined throughout the game, with no yellow or red cards coming their way, but couldn’t find a winning goal that would have been just reward for a good second half display.
Jamshedpur now move up to four points in the U13 division with their all-important final league stage clash coming against Sreenidi Deccan on April 23 at 8 AM.
The U15 team will be in action on April 22 as they battle it out against Sreenidi at 8 AM knowing that a win could take them through to the semifinals of the JSW Youth Cup.
