Jamshedpur, Dec 6: Two dumpers laden with stone chips were seized on Tuesday by the district transport officer (DTO) Dinesh Ranjan. Both the heavy vehicles were carrying stone chips the weight of which was more than the sanctioned limit.
The seizure took place during a vehicle checking drive that was conducted by Ranjan. Near the Saheb dam in Patamda, Ranjan intercepted the two dumpers on suspicion. When the DTO and other officials of the department ascertained that vehicles were overloaded, Ranjan asked the drivers to furnish documents for the stone chip consignments.
Ranjan said that the drivers did not have any receipts to prove that the stone chips had been procured legally and were meant to be transported in the dumpers. Ranjan said that this drive will continue and all vehicles that are found transporting goods illegally will be booked and punitive action will be initiated against the drivers and owners in accordance with law.
