Protest against prohibiting entry of 10 years old vehicles
Jamshedpur, Nov 14: Jamshedpur Truck & Trailer Owners’ Welfare Association has demanded an immediate increase in tariff in transporting goods for Tata Steel. In a meeting held at Sakchi based office of the association, the members condemned the highhandedness attitude of steel company and said that the vehicle owners are forced to lead a life in penury.
“ It is really shocking that Tata Steel has banned entry of 10 years old vehicles at its works. Those owners who have vehicles more than 10 years are left in lurch. Moreover the company has not increased goods transportation tariff to the registered vendors.,” said an official of Jamshedpur Truck & Trailer Owners’ Welfare Association.
Kulwinder Singh Pannu, president of Jamshedpur Truck & Trailer Owners’ Welfare Association said that the entire transportation industry has been hit due to the decision of the company. He said that steel company must take steps to increase tariffs.
Around 5-10 thousand truck and trailer owners work through registered vendors of Tata Steel. However, they allege that the registered vendors are not paying them fair transportation charges. This has led to large scale unemployment and loss.
