Jamshedpur triple murder case: SP leads police investigation, several detained

Jamshedpur, June 8: Seraikela-Kharsawan police have expedited investigation into the triple murder which took place on 7^th June last at Durga temple ground in Satvahini, Gamharia.

Armed criminals gunned down Ashish Gorai, Raju Gorai and Subir Chatterjee, all members of a gang, around 10.30 pm in what is being seen as a gang rivalry.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Prakash visited the crime scene today and also visited the adjoining localities. He inquired into the incident and spoke to several local residents about it. “The accused persons had been identified and that they will soon be brought to police net. It appears to be a gang war for supremacy,” he said.

The SP said few suspects have been detained in connection with the triple murders. “Raids are on to arrest all the accused persons. We expect to solve this case pretty soon,” he said.

According to police, late Ashish Gorai was an associate of gangster Santosh Thapa. One of the suspects in the triple murder case, Chhotu Ram, was also a member of Thapa gang. The three gangsters killed yesterday were jailed in the murder of Congress leader Shaan Babu.

Kishan Gorai, brother of late Raju Gorai, told cops about the triple murders. According to him, “Ashish Gorai was drinking at Durga Puja ground with his friends when the armed assailants reached there in an SUV. The accused persons, Chhotu Yadav, Sheru and two others took Ashish at gun point. Chhotu first shot Ashish and then shot Raju and Subir. His other associates also opened fire on the victims and fled from the scene shortly thereafter.”

Kishan said Chhotu and Ashish had an altercation just two days ago. The victims and the assailants had long been clashing over rivalry in illegal activities such as land dealing, sand mining and scrap business, sources said.

Recently, JMM leader Deepak Munda, sand trader Sujay Nandi and scrap dealer Debu Das were killed in Seraikela-Kharsawan. Police have already cracked these three cases.
