Jamshedpur Tribals to celebrate Sendra Parv at Dalma forests today

Jamshedpur, May 8: Hundreds of tribal community members reached Fadlugora village at the foothills of Dalma on Saturday on the eve of Sendra Parv. They performed puja to begin the annual hunting ritual of the Adivasis. Five cocks and a goat were sacrificed on this occasion. Dalma Raja Rakesh Hembram was present on the occasion to lead the rituals in the presence of tribal priests. He and others prayed to the forest deities and sought their permission to enter the forest for Sendra and sought their blessings to ensure good harvest, clean and healthy environment, protection from epidemics and prosperity for one and all.

Sendra Parv will be celebrated tomorrow. Preparations for the festival began several days back with the tribal community members holding several rounds of meeting at the residence of Dalma Raja.

In view of the hunting festival, forest officials are on high alert. They have appealed to the tribal leaders to ensure zero violence during the festival. They urged them not to kill wild animals during the hunting ritual.
