Jamshedpur Om Tower suicide case: Rahul’s ashes kept in bank locker, IO suspended

Jamshedpur, May 8: Rourkela-based businessman Rahul Agrawal, who committed suicide by jumping off a building in Bistupur, was cremated in his hometown. His younger brother Ankit performed the last rites. As per Rahul’s last wish, his ashes were kept in a bank locker, sources said.

Rahul had jumped off the terrace of the seven storied Om Tower building at Diagonal Road after sending a suicide note to the SP City of Jamshedpur K Vijay Shankar. He had also sent three videos in which he had blamed his wife Varsha Agrawal, father-in-law Pradip Chudiwala, mother-in-law Kusum Chudiwala, brother-in-law Piyush Chudiwala and sister-in-law Megha Chudiwala of torturing him by lodging a fake dowry case against him. Rahul had requested his kin to keep his ashes in bank locker till justice is done in the false case against him.

Acting on the complaint of Rahul’s kin, senior police authorities here suspended the investigating officer (IO) Balmukund Verma of Sonari police station who was probing the dowry torture case against Rahul. Rahul had accused Balmukund of mentally harassing him. He has been sent to the Police Lines. Police also visited the Chudiwalas’ residence but could not find anyone home as it was locked.
