Jamshedpur, March 20: The Jamshedpur Trailer Owners’ Union had decided to block Tata Steel gate on march 25 in demand for enhancement of ferrying charges to and from the works. This was decided in a meeting presided by the Union president Jai Kishor Singh.
Members stated that prices of fuel, spares, food grains and vegetables had soared and under such circumstances they were finding it impossible to continue with the old rate structure. It was informed that a notification to the effect hjad already been sent to all Tata Steel’s transport vendors. The members were irked with the Tata Steel management’s adamancy in the matter of enhancing the transportation fare rates. The meeting unanimously decided to block the Tata Steel gate and stop all goods movement to and from the steel works. They said that the transport vendors would be solely responsible for the strike.
Members present at the meet included Ranjan Singh, Manoj Singh, Prince, Ravindra Singh Tari, Chintu Singh, Tarandip Singh, Moin, Mahmud Khan, Pappu Singh, Ravi Bhalla, Sumit Gandhi, Bhushan, Gurjit, Om Prakash, Kishor and Vikas Singh.
