Jamshedpur traders to oppose ban on single use plastic

Jamshedpur, June 4: A meeting of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Jamshedpur Plastic Manufacturers and Sellers Association was held at Chamber Bhavan Auditorium in Bistupur on Saturday. It was unanimously decided to oppose the notification issued by the Central government banning single use plastic.

Chamber president Vijay Anand Moonka said the traders of the city would launch a phased agitation against the Centre’s decision. Petitions would be given to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Finance Minister, Environment Minister, Governor and Chief Minister through the local MP, MLAs, state ministers and Deputy Commissioner to withdraw the decision to ban single use plastic taken by the Centre, he said.

The traders said the government should provide an alternative to single use plastic at the earliest.
