Jamshedpur, August 31: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Vyapar Mandal will hold a torch procession on Sunday, September 1, at 6:00 pm, from Chamber Bhawan to Bistupur Main Road in protest against the Jharkhand government’s proposed imposition of Bazaar Samiti fee on food grains. The announcement was made jointly by SCCI President Vijay Anand Moonka and Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia.
President Vijay Anand Moonka stated that during a meeting organized by the Chamber to oppose the proposed fee, local businessmen resolved to demonstrate their unity and intentions to the government through this procession. He expressed concerns that the government was attempting to intimidate traders with this bill. However, Moonka emphasized that the business community was prepared to launch a significant movement against the bill and would continue to protest until it was withdrawn. He warned that this “black law” would not only harm business interests but also adversely affect the general public, something the Chamber would not tolerate.
Vice President Anil Modi and Secretary Bharat Makani added that all wholesale and retail food grain traders, as well as business organizations in Jamshedpur, had been invited to join the torch procession. They emphasized the importance of a strong show of unity to send a clear message to the government against the implementation of the controversial law.
