Jamshedpur, July 27: A delegation of Jamshedpur Chamber of Commerce met East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla and senior superintendent of police Anoop Birtharay on Saturday to demand amendment in parking rules of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC).
Leading the delegation, Harvinder Singh Mantu, patron of the outfit, said the district administration should take prompt measures to amend the parking rules for vehicles in the JNAC area. He said certain contractors were demanding parking fees from shopkeepers and their customers by charging exorbitant rates. Due to high rates, customers abstain from going to the shops, he said.
Mantu said the district administration should first ensure formation of the JNAC Board so that a permanent arrangement for parking could be made in the city. He said the administration should waive the parking fees for the shopkeepers.
The delegation members also raised the issue of slow construction of Railway over bridge approach road in Jugsalai. They said the work should be expedited to ensure timely completion of the ROB project. They further demanded one-way traffic system near the railway level crossing in Jugsalai.
The traders also demanded measures to remove encroachment from Jugsalai, Bistupur, Sakchi and various other city markets. The delegation members included Mohan Lal Agrawal, Akash Shah and Lala Joshi.
