Intense heatwave sweeps Jharkhand, Saraikela records highest temperature
Jamshedpur, June 11: Jharkhand, including Kolhan, is currently grappling with severe heat and humidity, leading to a significant rise in temperatures. On Tuesday, several districts, including Garhwa, Palamu, Saraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, and West Singhbhum, experienced severe heatwave. Additionally, Ranchi, Ramgarh, and Khunti also recorded high temperatures.
Saraikela and Daltonganj bore the brunt of the heatwave, with temperatures soaring to 45.4 degrees Celsius. Jamshedpur also experienced scorching heat, with the mercury touching 44.4 degrees Celsius, significantly higher than normal. The minimum temperature in Jamshedpur was recorded at 30.2 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heatwave conditions, particularly in Garhwa, Palamu, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan on June 12 and 13. An orange alert has been issued for Chatra and Latehar, while a yellow alert has been issued for several other districts.
Looking ahead, a red alert for heatwave has been issued for West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Seraikela on June 14, with an orange alert for Garhwa and Palamu. On June 15, a red alert is in place for Garhwa and Palamu, while an orange alert has been issued for East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the effects of the intense heatwave.
