Govt funding will enhance support for players: JBA President

Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum District Basketball Association (ESDBA) launched its new logo in a ceremony held at the basketball court located in the Dhatkidih Community Center Ground on Saturday. The logo unveiling was conducted by the Jharkhand Basketball Association (JBA) President Harbhajan Singh, Secretary JP Singh, and social worker Azhar Khan. A new T-shirt featuring the logo was also introduced during the event.

Speaking on the occasion, JBA President Harbhajan Singh emphasized the importance of government funding, stating, “If the government provides us with funds, basketball in the region will develop in a much better way, benefiting players significantly.” He further stressed that such support is crucial for the sport’s growth.

JBA Secretary JP Singh echoed this sentiment, expressing the association’s commitment to promoting basketball throughout Jharkhand. “Our effort is to keep the game going in every situation. In the coming time, more tournaments will be organized across the state, which will help in the development of players,” he stated.

East Singhbhum District Basketball Association Secretary Pradip Mukherjee announced that two major basketball tournaments are scheduled to take place in Jamshedpur. The first, the Jharkhand Basketball League, will be held at the Dhatkidih basketball court from October 11 to 20, featuring six teams. The second, the Jharkhand State Senior Basketball Tournament, will be organized from November 22, with participation expected from around 27 teams.

Several JBA Executive Committee members, including Jalal Sheikh, Arif Aftab, Shahzad Khan, Paramjit Singh, Md Nizam, Md Wasim, Usha Gope, and many players, were present at the event.
