Jamshedpur to host exhibition of rare coins from Jan 6

Three-day Jamcoin Expo 2023 at Tulsi Bhawan

Jamshedpur, Jan 5: Coin Collectors Club will be organising Jamcoin Expo 2023, an exhibition of rare coins from January 6 to 8 at Tulsi Bhawan in Bistupur. Coin, currency and stamps will be on display while quiz competition for students will be organised at the 28th National Level Coins Exhibition, said Vijay Prakash Singh, President Coin Collectors Club.

Addressing a press meet at Coin Collectors Club in Sakchi on Thursday, Vijay Prakash Singh informed that many rare coins, a few dating back to the old centuries including ancient Indian gold coins of the Gupta age, Euro Coins, commemorative coins, proof coins, coins on Sports, coins on great personalities and those from the times of the Mughal empire will be displayed.

The collection will also include coins from different princely States in pre-Independent India. The coins are priceless for their historical value, said Singh.

The coins issued by various kingdoms that ruled India in the past, foreign stamps, coins and currency notes issued on diverse themes and subjects were all put for display here.

He further said that through this exhibition we will pay tribute to former Tata Steel MD Dr JJ Irani who was the chief patron of Coin Collectors Club.

Club members, school students, ten coin dealers and experts from parts of the country will participate at the three-day exhibition, said P Babu Rao, general secretary, Coin Collectors Club.

The annual exhibition will reward school students and members for best display.

P Babu Rao stated that other than bringing numismatists together, the exhibition aims to generate awareness about the significance of coins.

The Coin Collectors’ Club of Jamshedpur is the only numismatic society in Jharkhand and Bihar. It has been organising this exhibition since 1994.
