Election notification to be released on October 18, candidates can purchase and file nomination papers starting Oct 18
Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur, along with the rest of East Singhbhum district, will go to the polls on November 13, 2024, as part of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections. The voting will cover all six assembly constituencies in the district. The notification for the election will be issued on October 18, with candidates allowed to purchase and submit their nomination papers starting that day. The last date for nominations is October 25, followed by scrutiny on October 28. Candidates can withdraw their nominations by October 30. The counting of votes will take place on November 23.
Under first phase polling for 14 seats will be held in Baharagora, Ghatshila (ST), Potka (ST), Jugsalai (SC), Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Seraikella (ST), Chaibasa (ST), Majhgaon (ST), Jaganathpur (ST), Manoharpur (ST), Chakradharpur (ST), Kharsawan and Kolebira (ST).
Preparations for the elections are in full swing, with a total of 1,913 polling stations set up across 1,145 buildings in the district. These polling stations will serve the 18,73,589 registered voters, which include 9,33,684 men, 9,39,742 women, and 163 third-gender voters. In addition, 2,045 service voters are also eligible to vote in this election.
The Model Code of Conduct is now in effect across the district. Additionally, special arrangements have been made to monitor interstate and inter-district checkposts to ensure a fair, transparent, and peaceful voting process in all Kolhan seats.
With the announcement of the Assembly Elections 2024, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in the East Singhbhum district. The first phase of voting is scheduled for November 13 in the district. The district administration has completed its preparations for the election. During a press conference held at the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur, District Election Officer Ananya Mittal and Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal provided detailed information on the district administration’s activities and preparations for the elections. The District Election Officer informed that voting will take place on November 13, with the counting of votes on November 23. Once the election notification is issued on October 18, candidates can purchase and file their nomination papers. The last date for filing nominations is October 25, scrutiny will be conducted on October 28, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 30.
1,913 Polling Stations come up
The District Election Officer informed that 1,913 polling stations have been set up in 1,145 buildings across the district. A total of 18,73,589 voters are registered in the district, including 9,33,684 male voters and 9,39,742 female voters, with 163 third-gender voters also participating in this election. There are 2,045 service voters.
The District Election Officer further shared that there are 6,742 voters aged 85 and above, 15,945 differently-abled voters, 83,750 voters aged 18-19, 395,106 voters aged 20-29, 502,451 voters aged 30-39, 378,884 voters aged 39-49, 266,514 voters aged 50-59, 158,350 voters aged 60-69, 69,535 voters aged 70-79, 16,935 voters aged 80-89, 2,025 voters aged 90-99, 37 voters aged 100-109, 1 voter aged 110-119, and 1 voter aged 120+. The Election Commission will also provide home voting facilities for eligible voters, with a survey being conducted by BLOs (Booth Level Officers) for this purpose.
