Jamshedpur, Oct 15: The Jharkhand Basketball Association (JBA) is set to host the inaugural season of the Jharkhand Basketball League, marking the first time this event will be held in Jamshedpur. The tournament will take place from October 18 to 20, 2024, at the Dhatkidih Community Centre.
A total of six teams from across the state will compete in the league: Jamshedpur Jammers, Ranchi Rangers, East Singhbhum Eagles, Skippers, Clippers, and Ballers. What sets this tournament apart is its unique team composition, with each squad featuring a mix of 12 players, including 6 senior players, 3 juniors, and 3 youth players, fostering versatility and competition, said Jharkhand Basketball Association President cum Olympian Harbhajan Singh.
Addressing a press meet at Dhatkidih Community Centre on Tuesday, Singh informed that the league promises to be a platform for players of various age groups to showcase their talent and team spirit in highly competitive matches. Matches will be held in the evening, starting at 6:00 PM, and will be live-streamed online, allowing basketball enthusiasts from across the country to follow the action.
JBA Secretary JP Singh stated that the tournament will offer cash prizes to the champions. Saryu Roy, MLA Jamshedpur East will be present as the chief guest while Sharat Chandran, Director of Kerala Public Schools, will be the special guest.
Prominent members of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, including Pradeep Mukherjee (Treasurer), and Arif Aftab (Technical Chairman), along with other officials, were also present at the press meet.
