Jamshedpur, Dec 20: The Horticultural Society of Jamshedpur (HSJ), with the support of Tata Steel UISL and Tata Steel, is set to unveil the city’s newest green attraction—the Sir Dorabjee Rose Garden. Located adjacent to Sir Dorabjee Tata Park and in front of Sacred Heart Convent School, the rose garden will be inaugurated on December 21 by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel.

This one-of-a-kind garden is being inaugurated as part of the 41st All India Rose Convention cum Rose Show and the 34th Annual Flower Show, scheduled to be held from December 29, 2024, to January 1, 2025 at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur.

The garden is designed to showcase over 300 plants, featuring a diverse array of rose species, and aims to provide a tranquil retreat for residents and visitors alike.

“The New Rose Garden will be inaugurated ahead of the Flower Show, fulfilling the requirement for a host city to have a dedicated rose garden for the All India Rose Convention cum Rose Show,” Sumita Nupur, President of the Horticulture Society Jamshedpur had informed the media during press meet on December 19.

She emphasized that the garden would not only elevate the city’s aesthetic charm but also provide a space for education and inspiration, promoting an appreciation for horticulture and environmental conservation among residents and visitors.

Supported by Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL, the rose garden is part of a broader initiative to enhance green spaces in the city. HSJ expressed heartfelt gratitude to these organizations for their contributions, highlighting how the project aligns with global efforts to promote environmental sustainability and combat desertification.

It is worth mentioning that the rose garden replaces the former rose garden at Jubilee Park, which was removed and replaced with a steel structure. The new project began with a groundbreaking ceremony on World Environment Day, June 5, 2024. During the event, a rose planting ceremony was led by Sumita Nupur, President of HSJ, and Pranay Sinha, Chief, Corporate Affairs at Tata Steel.

The garden is expected to become a significant attraction, adding to the beauty of Sir Dorabjee Tata Park and boosting Jamshedpur’s reputation as a hub of horticultural excellence. HSJ emphasized that the initiative exemplifies the power of community collaboration in achieving sustainable development goals.
