Jamshedpur Congress worker Alok Munna Murder: Police arrest five, including BJP Youth Wing Leader

Jamshedpur: The police have cracked the murder case of Congress worker Alok Kumar Bhagat, popularly known as Alok Munna, in the Kadma police station area. In a detailed operation, five individuals, including BJP Youth Wing Mandal President Vikas Singh, were arrested. The police recovered three country-made pistols, one live cartridge, and three empty shells from the accused. The case has stirred significant political unrest, with BJP leaders accusing the police of framing their members.
SSP Kishor Kaushal revealed that the murder was a calculated act of revenge stemming from a brawl during Kali Puja. The victim, Alok Munna, had been under surveillance by the accused for over a month. Investigations uncovered that the conspirators had meticulously tracked his movements, especially noting his routine of visiting the market every morning around 10 a.m.
On the day of the incident, the conspirators identified Munna returning home on his motorcycle. Vishal Kumar alias Bhikhe Baba fired the first shot at him, causing him to fall off his bike. As Munna tried to flee, the attackers, including Pankaj Sahu and others, chased him on foot and fired multiple rounds. The group then fled the scene through Seven Road in Kadma, using pre-arranged bikes and an auto-rickshaw for their escape.
The arrested individuals include:  Akash Singh alias Chhotu Bachha (23) Alleged mastermind of the conspiracy. Vishal Kumar alias Bhikhe Baba (21) Suspected shooter. Pankaj Sahu alias Bachha (19)– Alleged co-shooter. Shakti Bibhar– Conducted surveillance.  Vikas Singh  BJP Youth Wing Mandal President, accused of facilitating the crime.
The police stated that the group’s motive was rooted in asserting dominance and avenging the Kali Puja altercation.
The arrest of BJP’s Youth Wing leader Vikas Singh has led to a massive backlash from party members. Hundreds of BJP workers, led by Jamshedpur Metropolitan District President Sudhanshu Jha, staged a demonstration at the SSP office. Accusing the police of framing Singh under political pressure, the BJP demanded an unbiased investigation.
Protesters also surrounded Kadma police station and blocked police vehicles, preventing the transfer of the accused. The situation escalated when BJP workers forced the police to bring Vikas Singh out of the vehicle and escort him back to the station.
The BJP leaders claim that Singh was falsely implicated in the case, with party leader Sudhanshu Jha alleging that the arrest was part of a conspiracy to malign their political image.
Two key accused, including BJP leader Manish Pandey, remain at large. Pandey, along with another unnamed individual, has been charged with conspiracy and direct involvement in the crime. The police are conducting extensive raids to apprehend the fugitives.
SSP Kishor Kaushal addressed the media, stating that the investigation was proceeding based on evidence and facts. He assured that the police would not succumb to any political pressure and that all accused would be brought to justice.
Kaushal further revealed that Alok Munna had been staying outside the city for a month due to threats to his life. He returned to Jamshedpur a day before the murder, which was immediately reported to the conspirators by their surveillance team.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the Kadma area, with residents demanding stricter measures to curb the increasing gang violence. The murder has also raised concerns about the alleged involvement of political figures in criminal activities.
While the police have made significant progress in solving the case, the political and social implications continue to unfold. With two key accused still on the run and BJP leaders intensifying their protests, the case is far from over.
