Chakulia/Jamshedpur, Dec 13: The tigress that strayed from Similipal in Odisha has once again stirred local concerns by moving deeper into the forests of Rajabasa and Machadiha. On its fifth day, the tigress left the Chinyabandhi forest and crossed the railway line, prompting Odisha and Jharkhand forest department teams to intensify rescue efforts.
“Currently, the tigress is being tracked through its GPS location, and our team is on high alert to ensure her safe rescue,” said a forest department official involved in the operation. In Chinyabandhi, buffaloes were tied to lure the tigress, but the plan did not yield success.
Meanwhile, fear looms large among residents of Jamua, Machadiha, Sunasuniya, Morbeda, Sanghati, and nearby villages. Villagers are hesitant to venture outside due to concerns about potential attacks. “We are too scared to go out, especially at night. Children are being kept indoors,” said Ram Prasad, a resident of Machadiha.
The forest department remains stationed at Rajabasa and Machadiha with full preparations to execute the rescue. Efforts are being made to ensure minimal disruption to the local community while securing the tigress safely back to her habitat.
