Jamshedpur: Tiger’s return creates panic in Patamda forest area

Jamshedpur: After almost two weeks of disappearance, the tiger has reappeared in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district, and this time the majestic cat’s paw prints have been sighted on the outskirts of Jamshedpur near Patamda.

Forest officials believe it to be the same tiger that was active in the Dalma Hills area a few days ago and had ventured into West Bengal’s Purulia district. According to a forest official, the sighting of the tiger in Patamda has sparked fear among locals, particularly in the Patamda area.

The official further added that the tiger has been seen roaming in the forested areas between Patamda, Bataluka, and West Bengal before returning to Budhabudhi Pahad and Ghatshila.Forest officials stated that the tiger was last sighted on Monday night and Tuesday morning in Kukru and Apo villages of Gobarghusi Panchayat, where its paw prints were discovered, and its roar was also heard by the villagers.The tiger’s presence has caused panic, especially among villagers who frequent the forest to hunt rabbits or collect firewood.

The officer further added that villagers named Vrikodar Sabar and Ajit Singh saw the tiger
and alerted others.”Forest officials, after seeing the paw marks, advised us to be extra
cautious,” a local villager shared. A team specializing in tracking tigers from Palamu has
been deployed to monitor the big cat’s movements. Officials have also installed cameras,
and villagers have been warned against venturing into the forest, especially at night.
