Jamshedpur, Jan 21: Two bogies of goods train along with one guard’s compartment ran for about one kilometer in Dangoaposi railway yard under Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railway before derailment on late Thursday night. However, there was no report of any casualty in this accident. According to the information received, this incident happened during roll down as a part of shunting of the goods rake. Immediately after receipt of the information, a relief train was sent to the spot from Dangoaposi station and reinstatement work commenced on a war footing. Information stated that rail officials and employees from the Chakradharpur Division Headquarters and Dangoaposi Section reached the spot of derailment. When the goods train was being shunted at the Dangoaposi rail yard, three bogies rolled down uncontrolled and were derailed after hitting the buffers. At the time of occurrence shunting was being carried out at the yard. This incident was being attributed to negligence on the part of the rail department. On earlier occasions too, there have been incidences of derailment of goods trains and engines in the Dangoaposi section of Chakradharpur division. The current incident, according to sources was probably the first when bogies had covered a distance of one kilometer without an engine. People are questioning the safety standards being adopted by the rail division.
