Jamshedpur: TEEP workshops develops and promotes research acumen in teachers

Jamshedpur, October 26: In response to numerous requests from schools and in alignment with NEP 2020, the Tata Education Excellence Programme (TEEP) at Tata Steel, in collaboration with Mrs. KMPM Vocational College, organised a series of 12 workshops.

These workshops guided 8 teachers from 7 schools in writing qualitative research papers. The guidance was provided by a team from Mrs. KMPM Vocational College, including Asst. Professor and research cell coordinator Dr. Utpal Chakraborty, faculty member Shabnam Ali, Principal Dr. Meeta Jakhanwal, and IT support from Deepak Kumar Tandi.

The workshops were held weekly at Mrs. KMPM Vocational College, starting on August 8 and culminating on October 24. At the final event, the researchers presented their papers to an eminent jury comprising Dr. Vinayak Kishore, Public Policy researcher and consultant with the Tata Steel Foundation, Dr. Nidhi Srivastava, professional Psychologist and Founder Principal of Vivekananda International School (ICSE) Mango, Dr. Santanu Gupta, Professor of Economics at XLRI, Xavier School of Management, Dr. Usha Shukla, former Pro Vice Chancellor of YBN University and Principal of The Graduate School for Women, Jamshedpur.

Research topics included NEP 2020 – Opportunities and Challenges, Emotional Development of school students aged 5 to 8 years, the Role of intrinsic motivation in the educational growth of secondary school slow learners, and fostering Emotional Intelligence in students through Bibliotherapy in school libraries,

The researchers were T. Veena from Kerala Public School Kadma, Kavitha Rajesh from Gulmohur High School, Ravinder Kaur & Ritesh Kumar Singh from Tarapore School Agrico, Pratibha Singh from Vidya Jyoti School Gamharia, Sujit Roy from NML KPS and KPs Rairangpur, Debdutta Maitra from JH Tarapore School and Sweta Shree from Govind Vidyalaya Tamulia

Started in 2003, TEEP enables schools to improve the quality of education through a calibrated approach. This program is currently run in schools in and around Jamshedpur. Schools voluntarily participate in a yearlong engagement, after which they are assessed on an education excellence model adapted from the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence criteria.

Established in July 2010 and affiliated with Kolhan University, Mrs. KMPM Vocational College boasts an eco-friendly campus and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The college offers 7 degree courses with honors and includes industrial visits, on-job training, and projects as part of its comprehensive educational approach.
