Jamshedpur, April 9: Heat waves continued to scourge citizens in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan on Saturday as the mercury level reached 41 degree Celsius. The streets and marketplaces wore an abandoned look from 11 am onwards.
Normal life has started getting affected as the soaring temperature is now taking a toll on people’s health. In what could be a testimonial of the inclement weather, three school kids fainted due to the hot weather. Their condition deteriorated due to the heat waves, sources said.

Sources said Amit Pramani, a class II student of Middle School, Buruhatu, Ichagarh and Kuldeep Pramanik, a class IV student, fell unconscious during school hours. They were taken to the school office and later sent home in the company of two teachers. Alarmed by the situation, the school management dismissed all classes after the incident.
In a similar incident, a class IV girl student fainted at Upgraded Middle School in Hensal, Rajnagar. In a recent incident, an assistant teacher of New Primary School, Lakhiposh, Bahadur Hansda, reportedly died of sunstroke.

Meanwhile, Pratibha Shankh, a girl student of Upgraded High School, Pathanmara, fell sick due to the hot weather during her Matriculation Board exams today. She was taken to Sadar Hospital in an ambulance. Later, she was brought back to the exam centre to continue her exam.

Members of All Jharkhand Primary Teachers Association have demanded early school timings to prevent sunstroke cases. Deepak Dutta, state vice president of the Association, said teachers and students are falling sick everyday due to heat waves. The administration should take necessary steps to prevent harassment of teachers and students, he said.
