Jamshedpur, May 2: A 45 year-old sports teacher of a Kadma-based private school was arrested for allegedly subjecting one of his students to sodomy on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Parvez Alam, resident of Bhalubasa under Sitaramdera PS area, reportedly confessed having sodomized a class VIII student of his school more than once, said Manoj Kumar Thakur, officer in-charge of Kadma PS.

Police said the incident came to light after the child attempted suicide in his house yesterday. The 13 year-old was rescued by his parents. He narrated the tribulations he faced in the last five months of sexual abuse by his teacher.

As per the victim, Alam had sodomized him on 30^th April last and as usual, had threatened him against telling anyone about the incident. The child, unable to take it anymore, tried to kill himself, but was saved just in time, police said.

Shocked by the revelations, the minor’s parents went to the school today and confronted the accused teacher. Enraged over the incident, the parents thrashed the accused severely and handed him over to police. An FIR has been lodged against Alam under the IPC and various sections of POCSO Act, police said.
