Jamshedpur: Tayo Rolls declares Block F-9 of Tayo Colony unsafe

Mail News Service

Gamharia: The management of Tayo Rolls Limited has declared Block F-9 of Tayo Colony in Gamharia structurally unsafe and ordered employees residing there to vacate their flats within 10 days. Residents have been offered alternative accommodations in F-type or H-type flats on an “as is where is” basis, but this decision has sparked anger and confusion among affected employees.

The company has also announced a penalty of ₹200 per day for those failing to hand over their keys within the deadline, adding to the anxiety of residents. In response, the employees have submitted a letter to the management, questioning the safety of the alternative flats, which they claim are also in a dilapidated state. “If the new flats are structurally weak, this is not a real solution and could create future risks,” stated one of the affected employees.

The residents have demanded access to the security audit report of the new accommodations, if any, and clarity on whether repairs will be conducted. They have also asked for clarification on who will be held accountable in case of structural damage or accidents. Furthermore, uncertainty looms over whether the penalty amount will be collected by Tayo Rolls or Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL).

Frustrated employees have urged the company to organize a meeting to address these concerns. “If the management does not take concrete action, we will be forced to escalate the matter to the Labor Department and other legal forums,” an employee warned.
