Jamshedpur: Tata Steel UISL Batching Plant worker dies during construction work

Jamshedpur, August 30: Sitaramdera resident, 42 year old Rajkumar Rajak, while engaged in construction work at the Tata Steel UISL Batching Plant in Burmamines, received severe injuries when a lintel gave way and fell over him. Co-workers and site supervisors, seeing Rajkumar’s condition, provided first aid and then rushed him in an ambulance to TMH where, doctors declared him ‘brought dead’. He was employed by M/S Rudra Construction.

A CT Scan was performed. Later, police took possession of Rajak’s body and sent it for autopsy.

Tata Steel UISL has initiated an inquiry into the incident to determine any lapses that might have contributed to accident.

Tata Steel UISL to investigate cause of accident

A statement issued by Tata Steel UISL mentioned, “It is with extreme grief we wish to inform the sad demise of Raj Kumar Rajak, aged 42 years.

Today at around 2:30 PM, Raj Kumar Rajak, an employee of M/S Rudra Construction, was working at the Batching Plant. During the de-shuttering process, a lintel fell, resulting in an injury to Rajak.

Despite prompt medical attention and being rushed to TMH, the doctors unfortunately declared him deceased.

Family members have been informed. The company offers its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prays to the Almighty to give his family members the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
