Jamshedpur takes on Manoharpur in U/16 Hockey Tournament Finals

Jamshedpur, Jan 20: Continuing with its endeavor to support Hockey, the National Sports of India, Tata Steel organised a Hockey Tournament for U/16 and Open Age Category, marking the birth anniversary of Jaipal Singh Munda.

The finals of the tournament commenced today on 20th January and continue till 21st January 2014 at the Armoury Ground, Jamshedpur.

The Hockey Tournament organized by the Corporate Social Responsibility Department of Tata Steel reached its final leg today.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sylvanus Dung Dung, a former Indian Hockey player and an Ex-Olympian who participated in the 1980 Olympics of Moscow.

The special guests who graced the occasion were Mr. Biren Bhuta, Chief, CSR, Tata Steel, Mr. Charles Borromeo, Sr. Manager, Sports Department, Tata Steel, Mr Peter Mundu, President, Hockey Association, Khunti, P. C. Soy, Vice President, Hockey Association, Khunti, and Mr. Patrus Lungun, General Secretary, Hockey Association, West Singhbhum.

A total of 7 teams from Gomardih, Jamshedpur, Bandgaon, Gumla, Khunti, Simdega and Manoharpur participated in the category of U/16. The teams who would participate in the finals tomorrow are Jamshedpur and Manoharpur.

The tournament so far has witnessed participation of nearly 2000 youths from different parts of Kolhan comprising of Jamshedpur, Khunti, Ranchi, Gomardih, Gumla, Simdega, Kuchai, Bandgaon, Manoharpur and Mahuadand.
