Jamshedpur suicide case: FIR lodged against Pradip Chudiwala, five others

IO of dowry case also booked, Rahul’s cremation today

Jamshedpur, May 6: Bistupur police have registered an FIR against city businessman Pradip Chudiwala, his daughter Varsha Agrawal and their three relatives in connection with the suicide of Rahul Agrawal.

Rahul jumped off the terrace of the seven-storied Om Tower at Diagonal Road, Bistupur, on Thursday afternoon. He died at the scene. Before dying, he had sent video messages to his brother and one WhatsApp message to SP City of Jamshedpur K Vijay Kumar. In his message, he blamed his wife Varsha, father-in-law Pradip Chudiwala and other in-laws of torturing him by allegedly lodging a false case of dowry torture and cruelty against him.

The SP City had alerted Bistupur police on getting the suicide message but Rahul jumped off the building before he could be traced and rescued.

Bistupur police have included the names of Rahul’s mother-in-law Kusum Chudiwala, brother-in-law Piyush Chudiwala, Varsha’s sister Megha Chudiwala and the investigating officer (IO) Balmukund Prasad of Sonari police station in the FIR. The accused persons allegedly forced Rahul to such an extent that he ended his life, alleged Rahul’s brother Ankit.

Ankit said his brother would be cremated tomorrow in Rourkela. He and his family members took Rahul’s body from MGM Medical College after autopsy today.

Ankit’s family was supposed to meet the SP City before leaving for Rourkela but the meeting got postponed, sources said.
