Jamshedpur: Student Brings Country-made Pistol to College; 3 Expelled After Video Goes Viral

Jamshedpur: A viral social media video showing students with a country-made pistol and a .315 bore live cartridge inside a classroom triggered panic at Shyama Prasad Inter College under the Parsudih police station area. An internal investigation has confirmed that all three students featured in the video are students of the same college.

The college management decided to expel the three students seen in the video. Surprisingly, the college administration has chosen not to report the matter to the police yet.

“If we initiate police action against these students, it will ruin their career prospects. Therefore, keeping a humanitarian perspective in mind, we have withheld reporting the matter to the police for now,” explained College Principal S.C. Mahato.

According to the college administration, a Class 12 science student smuggled the weapon onto the campus, hidden inside his bag. The student reportedly wanted to assert his dominance following a recent mutual dispute and physical brawl on the campus a few days prior. Once inside the classroom, he flaunted the firearm to his friends, who recorded a video that subsequently was leaked online.

Once the video surfaced, the college management launched a probe. While authorities tried to contact the involved students, the mobile phones of two students—identified as Prem and Harsh Mishra—were found switched off. However, the management successfully summoned the main accused student along with his parents to the college.

During initial questioning, the student repeatedly changed his stance. However, when confronted with the viral video and questioned, he confessed to bringing the firearm to the campus. He disclosed that a friend had provided him with the weapon.

The investigation confirmed that the students had a country-made pistol and a .315 bore bullet in their possession inside the classroom, an incident the administration flagged as a security breach.

The incident has raised serious questions about the growing trend of violence and the alarming influence of firearms among college students. Meanwhile, the viral footage has sparked intense concern among local parents and educationists regarding campus safety.
